Authentic Egyptian Cuisine
Through his commitment to earn growth, Rafik Abohattab expands his beloved Egyptian concept Torshi from New Orleans to Houston. Born and raised in Egypt, Rafik developed a fervent passion for cooking at a young age alongside his mother and grandmother and pursued it with his first job: running a food cart in Cairo at just 17 years old. In 2007, Rafik moved to the United States with aspirations of living out the American Dream and worked in several kitchens to hone his culinary skills before opening Torshi at St. Roch Market in New Orleans in 2017. Just over a year later, he and his wife decided to move to Houston to raise their children, and, with the success of Torshi, found the next step of his culinary journey as an entrepreneur.
At Politan Row Houston, expect beautiful dishes common to the Mediterranean and beloved at Torshi, from shareable dips of silky-smooth hummus and rich labneh to street food favorites like fresh falafel and shawarma.
